Practice guide for the application of the Brussels IIb Regulation
Description
The Regulation, known colloquially as the Recast of Brussels IIa Regulation, Brussels IIb or Brussels IIter, is the cornerstone of the judicial cooperation in family matters with cross-border implications in the European Union (EU). The Regulation is an instrument dealing with the jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of decisions in matrimonial matters and matters of parental responsibility, including international child abduction and cooperation in matters of parental responsibility. It does not unify the determination of the applicable law, nor the national substantive family law. The practice guide is meant to help legal professionals applying the Regulation.
