Description

This handbook is a foundational linguistic training resource developed by EJTN to support judges and prosecutors in mastering the vocabulary of judicial cooperation in criminal matters. It compiles materials from a series of EU-supported seminars (2011–2012), combining legal content with targeted language exercises to enhance cross-border communication. [ejtn.eu]

The handbook focuses on key terminology, concepts, and practical scenarios related to EU criminal cooperation, helping practitioners navigate legal instruments and communicate effectively with counterparts in other Member States. It serves as a hands-on tool with definitions, exercises, and case-based activities aimed at strengthening both legal understanding and language proficiency

After using this handbook, learners should be able to:

  • Understand core concepts of judicial cooperation in criminal matters
  • Use specialised legal terminology confidently in English/French in professional judicial contexts
  • Interpret legal texts and cooperation tools commonly used in EU criminal proceedings
  • Communicate effectively with foreign judicial authorities in cross-border criminal cases
  • Apply appropriate terminology in practical case scenarios related to judicial cooperation in criminal matters
