About this course

This primer module introduces the concept of Artificial Intelligence, its definition, and different types and techniques for using it. Additionally, the module looks into the new framework on Artificial Intelligence proposed by the European Commission in April 2021. EIPA’s expert on Data Protection, Florina Pop, will further clarify which are the Artificial Intelligence systems that fall under the umbrella of the new AI Act and provides a summary of the new legal requirements provided by the EU Commission in the new AI Act.

  • You will know how to use the AI related terminology and expand your knowledge on the key legal requirements provided by the European Commission in the new Artificial Intelligence Act.

Target group

This is a basic module suitable for all public administration officials at all levels. No prior knowledge of Artificial Intelligence is required.

This module is structured in five main blocks:

  1. What is Artificial Intelligence and how to define it? (20 min)
  2. Practical exercise (2 min)
  3. The Artificial Intelligence Act (20 min)
  4. Practical exercise (2 min)
  5. Additional readings (optional)

In total, you will need 45 minutes to complete this online primer module.
