Description
This HELP course on Internal Displacement is part of a series of courses created by the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) aiming to support legal professionals and to enhance their capacities to effectively and coherently apply European fundamental rights standards at the national level. Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are among the most vulnerable people in Europe and beyond, and the protection of their rights is a key tenant of international and regional human rights instruments. This course offers a comprehensive curriculum to improve the quality of the response to internal displacement, supporting those who work towards providing IDPs with access to their rights. It covers in an interactive way some of the key concepts on the protection of IDPs, giving an insight into the international and European legal framework and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. The course is addressed to legal professionals (judges, prosecutors, lawyers). It consists of the following 6 substantive modules: Introduction Overview and Key Concepts International and European Legal Framework Protection of Property and Home under ECHR Other Frequently Invoked ECHR rights Protection of Social Rights.
