CJEU Hearings' Video #5: The reference for a preliminary ruling: a dialogue on european law with the European court of justice at the initiative of national judges

The result of the EC project ‘CJEU Hearings’ Recording as a Judicial Training Tool’, co-organised with the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) are six practical, hands-on individual training videos available on EU Academy (https://academy.europa.eu/courses/cjeu-training-videos) for self-learning or reuse in national training activities.

Interaction between the Environmental Impact Assessment and the Nature Directives

The training module addresses judges and prosecutors dealing with environmental issues with previous general, and in certain cases specific, knowledge regarding the subject. The module will provide judges and prosecutors with relevant information on the latest developments of the EU environmental law acquis, relevant jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the EU and an in-depth analysis of the topic with a special focus on Interaction between the Environmental Impact Assessment and the Nature Directives.

HELP course on Family Law and Human Rights

This HELP course on Family Law and Human Rights is part of a series of courses created by the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (notably with EU financial support) aiming to support legal professionals and to enhance their capacities to effectively and coherently apply European fundamental rights standards at the national level. This course has been jointly financed by the European Union-Council of Europe "HELP in the EU" project and the European Union-Council of Europe Horizontal Facility Action "Strengthening the Human Rights Ombudsman to fight discrimination”, in cooperation with the Council of Europe Children’s Rights Division. It is addressed to legal professionals (judges, prosecutors, lawyers). The course aims at providing a comprehensive overview of International and European family law related standards, case-law and good practices. It discusses and analyses the influence of human rights law, notably Articles 8 (private and family life) and 12 (right to marriage) of the ECHR on national family law.

AWARE: Mental Health Awareness in Prison

This course aims to raise awareness on the inmates’ mental health in correctional facilities, offering participants the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in the area of mental health.

Introduction to EU Anti-Discrimination Law

This online course has been developed to provide an introduction to the key concepts, developments and relevant case law concerning EU anti-discrimination law. It is intended to be interactive by using video presentations, examples from real cases and quizzes to test your knowledge. It is intended to complement the detailed seminars run by the Academy of European Law on anti-discrimination law, which provide more indepth analysis of the issues. Produced in the framework of the European Commission's Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme 2014-2020.

HELP course on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

This HELP course on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is part of a series of courses created by the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) of the Council of Europe, with EU financial support, aiming to support legal professionals and to enhance their capacities to effectively and coherently apply European fundamental rights standards at the national level. Legal professionals are at the front line in that respect, with their work being of critical importance in ensuring the effective and efficient protection of the rights of persons with disabilities. This comprehensive course aims at increasing the knowledge of legal professionals on the applicable international and CoE standards for a better protection of the rights of persons with disabilities. Throughout the course international standards on rights of persons with disabilities under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and the CoE instruments (European Convention on Human Rights –ECHR, the revised European Social Charter-ESC(r) and soft law documents) will be identified and compared. The course is addressed to legal professionals (judges, prosecutors, lawyers).
