Commission Guidance on the interpretation and application of Directive 2011/83/…

Description

The purpose of Directive 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on consumer rights (hereinafter referred to as ‘CRD’ or ‘Directive’) is to achieve a high level of consumer protection across the EU and to contribute to the proper functioning of the internal market by approximating certain aspects of Member States’ laws, regulations and administrative provisions concerning contracts concluded between consumers and traders. The purpose of this Guidance  is to facilitate the effective application of the Directive. The Notice also aims at increasing awareness of the Directive amongst all interested parties, such as consumers, businesses, the authorities of the Member States, including national courts, and legal practitioners, across the EU. It covers the amendments introduced by Directive (EU) 2019/2161 of the European Parliament and of the Council  as regards the better enforcement and modernisation of Union consumer protection rules that enter into application from 28 May 2022. The training material is addressed to justice professionals in all the EU Member States and to Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. The training material is accessible in all official EU languages.
