Make your national administration a winner in EU infringement procedures: respond persuasively to Commission allegations, avoid the risk of a court case, a condemnatory ruling and potential financial sanctions for your national administration.

Recent years have seen the booming of e-commerce, online platforms and digital markets, which in turn influences competition analysis and has brought up the question of whether “traditional” competition enforcement appropriately addresses recent developments and novel issues. Consequently, national courts are required to be up-to-date on the particularities of digital markets in order be able to review NCAs’ decisions and factor them into their judgments.

This is a short online course focuses on Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 December 2012 on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters (Brussels Ibis), Regulation (EC) No 593/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 June 2008 on the law applicable to contractual obligations (Rome I) and Regulation (EC) No 864/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 July 2007 on the law applicable to non-contractual obligations (Rome II). The course is online based, free of charge, open for enrolment indefinitely and has no deadline for completion and suitable for justice practitioners who are non-specialists in private international law.

The practice guide intends to give an overview of the relevant current legal provisions (including case law) on matters of private international law and posting in the area of employment contracts to assist practitioners.

This advanced interactive online training course aims to shed new light on the role of the national judge in applying EU State aid rules following recent changes. In particular, it will enrich national judges' knowledge of the practical implications of recent case law from the Court of Justice of the EU on their task in applying EU State aid rules. It will also update them on the changes brought about by the State Aid Modernisation (SAM) affecting the execution of their task.

This training material provides guidelines on how to apply and interpret Directive 2005/29/EC in order to facilitate the correct and effective application of the Directive.

The training materials were conceived in a way to be used in the context of a 1.5-day seminar. There are two sets of case studies: one deals with the selected topics on an introductary level while the second allows more advanced training. Each case study encompasses the case scenario, the suggested solution, and some methodological advice for using the case together with the relevant background documentation which is needed in order to solve the cases. Set of case studies on cross-border mediation in civil and commercial cases developed by Professor Brian Hutchinson. The materials cover the following cases: i) international sales and distribution contract dispute, ii) workplace/employment dispute and iii) cross-border consumer dispute. They include the case scenarios, role-play instructions, necessary background documentation and methodological advice. The case studies do not contain any solutions as this would not be suitable for mediation training.
