- ONLINE COURSE ON EU PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL LAW
Description
Private international law (PIL) or conflict of laws is an area of law related to private relations with international or cross – border implications and closely linked to them topics of international civil litigation. PIL rules apply when a legal dispute has a cross-border element such as a contract agreed by parties located in different states, tort suffered on the territory of a foreign state, ownership over a real estate abroad. To huge extent private international law was an issue of national regulation. This online course is suitable for self-learning of justice professionals who are non-specialists in private international law. The course is split into 6 Lessons, 5 of which are focused on a specific EU law instrument, namely: Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 December 2012 on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters (Brussels Ibis), Regulation (EC) No 593/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 June 2008 on the law applicable to contractual obligations (Rome I) and Regulation (EC) No 864/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 July 2007 on the law applicable to non-contractual obligations (Rome II). To fulfil the course and each single lesson one needs to answer correctly all multiple choice questions after the respective lesson. Each question has one correct answer. The course is online based, free of charge, open for enrolment indefinitely and has no deadline for completion. To access the course, a registration on the InterLex Portal is required.
