Commission Guidance on the interpretation and application of Directive 2005/29/…

Description

Directive 2005/29/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on unfair business-to-consumer commercial practices in the internal market (‘the UCPD’) constitutes the overarching piece of EU legislation regulating unfair commercial practices in business-to-consumer transactions. It applies to all commercial practices that occur before, during and after a business-to-consumer transaction has taken place. The purpose of this Guidance  is to facilitate the proper application of the Directive. It  also aims at increasing awareness of the Directive amongst all interested parties, such as consumers, businesses, the authorities of the Member States, including national courts and legal practitioners, across the EU. It covers the amendments introduced by Directive (EU) 2019/2161 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the better enforcement and modernisation of Union consumer protection rules that enter into application from 28 May 2022. The training material is addressed to justice professionals in all the EU Member States and to Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. The training material is accessible in all official EU languages.
