Description
The EJTN Leadership Training Guidelines (2019) provide practical guidance for designing and delivering leadership training for judges, prosecutors, and judicial staff. The handbook supports training providers in structuring effective programmes that develop leadership skills, communication, and change management within judicial contexts.
It identifies three core areas of leadership development:
- Personal leadership (self-awareness, decision-making)
- Leadership in communication (interaction, teamwork, influence)
- Change management (leading organisational change)
The guidelines also include recommendations on training design, methodologies, participant profiles, and evaluation, as well as examples of national practices to promote the exchange of best practices across Europe.
Learning objectives include:
- Understand the key principles of leadership in the judicial context
- Identify core leadership competencies (personal leadership, communication, change management)
- Design effective leadership training programmes for judicial professionals
- Apply appropriate training methods and tools for leadership development
- Evaluate leadership training to ensure long-term impact and improvement
